The plateau sits at about 2,600 metres, around an hour and a half from Marrakech on a winding road through the Ourika Valley. In a good winter there are lifts, equipment for hire, and donkeys to carry skis up the slope.
Without snow it is grazing land. Shepherds use the stone huts, and engravings cut into the rocks thousands of years ago are scattered across the plateau. When Marrakech is hot, it is a good place for a walk.
From your pickup in the morning to the drop-off at the end of the day.
Pickup at your riad or hotel around 8:30. The road follows the Ourika Valley, then climbs in bends to the plateau, with stops at viewpoints on the way.
In winter, time on the slopes; equipment can be hired on site. The rest of the year, a walk across the plateau to the rock carvings and the shepherds’ huts, followed by lunch.
The drive back down, with a stop in the Ourika Valley if you like, and drop-off in the late afternoon.
