About the Tour

Several riads in the Marrakech medina have only four to six rooms and can be rented whole. You get the house, the courtyard and the staff for your stay, with meals cooked there if you like.

In the desert, a camp crew pitches your tents in a quiet part of Erg Chigaga, well away from the other camps, and stays with you for three nights: a cook, a camel man and a helper. The road home runs back across Lake Iriki and Foum Zguid in one long day.

Day 1 · Arrival in Marrakech

Airport pickup and the drive to your riad.

Day 2 · Marrakech with a guide

A morning in the souks and palaces with a guide, then a free afternoon.

Day 3 · Marrakech

A free day, with dinner cooked at the riad if you wish.

Day 4 · Marrakech to Aït Benhaddou

Over the Tizi n’Tichka by Telouet and the Ounila valley.

Day 5 · Aït Benhaddou to Zagora

Through Ouarzazate and Agdz and down the Draa Valley.

Day 6 · Zagora to your camp

To M’hamid and by 4×4 to the camp, where the crew is waiting.

Day 7 · In the dunes

Camel rides, walks and meals at the hours you choose.

Day 8 · In the dunes

A last full day at your camp.

Day 9 · Erg Chigaga to Marrakech

Across Lake Iriki to Foum Zguid, then north over the High Atlas to Marrakech. Plan on nine to ten hours with stops.

Day 10 · Marrakech

A free day.

Day 11 · Departure

Transfer to Marrakech airport.

How many people can stay?

A riad of four to six rooms sleeps about eight to twelve. For a bigger group we look for a larger house or two riads side by side.

Can the long drive home be split?

Yes. Add a night in a kasbah hotel near Ouarzazate and the tour becomes 12 days.

What is a luxury camp like?

Large tents with proper beds and a private bathroom with a shower. Dinner and breakfast are served at the camp. Tell us if you have a camp in mind and we check availability.

Can we change the route or the hotels?

Yes. We can add nights, change hotels or swap the order of the stops, since only your group is on the tour. Tell us what you have in mind when you enquire.
