On this five-day trip from Marrakech you spend two nights at a Merzouga luxury camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, with short driving days. You stay at a kasbah hotel in the Skoura oasis on the way out and in the Dades Valley on the way back.
The three-day trip to Merzouga covers this ground in a hurry. With five days, no drive is much longer than six hours, and you get a whole day in the dunes with nothing planned.
The camp near Merzouga has large tents with private bathrooms. In Skoura and the Dades Valley we use small kasbah hotels; tell us if you have one in mind and we will try to book it.

How the five days go, from your pickup in Marrakech to the drop-off.
Over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with stops at the Glaoui kasbah in Telouet and at Aït Benhaddou. You reach the palm grove of Skoura in the late afternoon.
Through the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley to the Todra Gorge for a walk, then on to Merzouga. A camel takes you to the camp for sunset.
Nothing is fixed today. Walk the dunes early, ride a camel, visit Khamlia or the Rissani market if it is a market day, or stay at camp.
Back west through Tinghir to the Dades Gorge, with the afternoon free.
Through Ouarzazate and over the High Atlas, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
We pick you up at your riad or hotel in Marrakech at the time you choose. If your riad is in a lane cars cannot enter, the driver waits at the nearest square or gate and someone from the riad walks you there.
October to April is the most comfortable time. Days are warm and nights cool, and in December and January the desert can drop close to freezing at night. From June to August the afternoons are very hot, so we start early and rest in the middle of the day.
Layers, with a warm jacket for the desert night from November to March; a hat, sunglasses and sun cream; a scarf against wind and sand; shoes you can walk in on sand; a head torch; a small bag for the camp night, since your main luggage stays in the vehicle; cash in dirhams for drinks and tips; a power bank.
