Planning a honeymoon in Morocco
How many days?
Five days is enough for a desert trip from Marrakech with two nights in the dunes. With ten to twelve days you can add slow days in a Marrakech riad at each end.
Best months
April, May, October and November have warm days and mild nights in Marrakech and the desert. Summer is very hot inland; winter nights in the dunes are cold.
Riad, kasbah or desert camp
Most couples combine all three: a riad in Marrakech, a kasbah hotel on the road south and a luxury tent in the dunes.
Adding the coast
Essaouira is three hours from Marrakech and suits a few quiet days by the sea at the end of the trip.
A Sahara honeymoon: Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga?

Is Morocco good for a honeymoon?
Yes. Riads are small and private, the food is good, and a night in the desert is something you share. Marrakech is under four hours by air from London.
Is Morocco safe for couples?

How many days do we need for a Morocco honeymoon?
Five days covers Marrakech and two nights in the desert. Ten to twelve days lets you add slow days in a riad at each end, a kasbah on the road south or a few nights by the sea in Essaouira.
Marrakech or the desert for a honeymoon?
Most couples want both. Marrakech gives you riads, hammams and restaurants; the desert gives you quiet, dark skies and a tent of your own. Two or three nights in each works well.
Can we add the coast to a honeymoon?
Yes. Essaouira is three hours from Marrakech, with sea air, a walled medina and riads by the ramparts. Our 8-day itinerary ends there with two nights.
What should we pack for a desert honeymoon?
Light clothes for the day, a warm layer for the evening, sunglasses, sun cream and a small overnight bag for the camp. Your main luggage stays in the vehicle.
Can we book from the USA or the UK?
Yes. You book online or by email and arrange your own flights; we pick you up at your riad or hotel. Citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom can visit Morocco for up to 90 days without a visa.
Can we have a private dinner at the camp?
Many camps can set a table for two away from the others. Tell us and we ask the camp for your dates.
Which honeymoon trip is best for a short stay?
For three or four days, a night at an Agafay luxury camp with a day in the Atlas, or the 5-day honeymoon in the Erg Chigaga or Erg Chebbi dunes if you have a little longer.
Can a honeymoon start or end in Essaouira?
Yes. Essaouira is three hours from Marrakech, and a honeymoon can start or end there with a night or two by the sea.
