Luxury tours from Casablanca to the Sahara
The first and last days are long ones, seven to eight hours each with stops, because Casablanca is two and a half hours north of Marrakech before the mountains even begin. In return you sleep at Aït Benhaddou on the first night and reach the dunes early on day two.
From Foum Zguid a 4×4 track crosses the dry Lake Iriki to the camp. After two nights you leave by the other side of the dunes, through M’hamid and the palm groves of the Draa, and spend the last night in a kasbah hotel near Ouarzazate.

Day 1 · Casablanca to Aït Benhaddou
Pickup in Casablanca in the morning, the motorway to Marrakech and the climb over the Tizi n’Tichka, with a stop at Telouet before Aït Benhaddou.

Day 2 · Aït Benhaddou to Erg Chigaga
South through Tazenakht to Foum Zguid, then by 4×4 across Lake Iriki to the camp.

Best time to go
October to April is the most comfortable time. Days are warm and nights cool, and in December and January the desert can drop close to freezing at night. From June to August the afternoons are very hot, so we start early and rest in the middle of the day.
What to bring
Layers, with a warm jacket for the desert night from November to March; a hat, sunglasses and sun cream; a scarf against wind and sand; shoes you can walk in on sand; a head torch; a small bag for the camp night, since your main luggage stays in the vehicle; cash in dirhams for drinks and tips; a power bank.
Price, deposit and cancellation
Prices are per person and depend on the size of your group. You book with a 20% deposit by card or PayPal and pay the balance on the first day of the tour.
If you cancel 30 days or more before the start, we refund the deposit in full; after that the deposit is kept. You can change the date once for free if you ask 14 days or more before. The details are in our Cancellation Policy.

Do we stop in Marrakech?
The route passes Marrakech on the first and last days, and you can add a night or two there at either end.
Can we add a night in Marrakech?
Yes. A night in Marrakech on the way back breaks up the last day, and the tour becomes 6 days.
Can we stay longer at the camp?
Yes. Add as many nights at the camp as you like; each one gives you another full day in the dunes.
What is a luxury camp like?
Large tents with proper beds and a private bathroom with a shower. Dinner and breakfast are served at the camp. Tell us if you have a camp in mind and we check availability.
